My bad: looks like Byrne only PENCILLED Legends (according to Wikipedia). The Star Brand knock might just be a general LOL MARVEL SUCKS jab (unless Len Wein or John Ostrander had beef) (& given Shooter was an affable, charming, not-at-all-demanding sort of boss, I can't see that being the case) (cough).

To be fair JS brought it on himself a bit by making Pittsburgh the Star Brand lead's home town too.

Is it just a coincidence that Pittsburgh is turned into a pit, or does Star Brand’s amazing power like puns?

I think a lot of it has to do w/ Pittsburgh being Star Brand writer / creator Jim Shooter's hometown, & Pitt co-writer John Byrne's undying quest to stick it to Jim in a passive-aggressive style. See also the DC mini-series Legends (co-plotted by Byrne), where Guy Gardner fights a Star-Brandy Jim-Shootery villain called Sunspot or something and, um, forces him to blow off his hand.

The thing I recall about the NU was a conversation with Tom DeFalco at about the time he was becoming editor-in-chief or whatever at Marvel. He said that unlike their mainline titles, the NU was aimed at the intellectual adult, college graduates and so on. I said "A giant robot comic by Gerry Conway and Herb Trimpe was aimed at adult intellctuals?" and he clearly had no idea why I was doubting this.

Actually for this you're probably best off with something like DC++ which lets you snatch individual files. If I knew how to make a torrent I might try and put together a "PITT Pack" though!

But THE PITT and its immediate aftermath has aged very well, and in an era of downloadable comics the saga is ripe for rediscovery.

Where would I find something this? Bittorrent?
