They’ve been around in the States for awhile. (I should know–I live within walking distance of a BK–but don’t tell anyone that, in moments of great temptation, I go there.) In the past couple of years BK has had the standard Angus burger, which is, I agree, rather like a Whopper but with a better quality beef. I could be wrong, but I think the onions on the Angus are grilled while the onions on the Whopper are raw. There have also been a number of “limited edition” Angus burgers that come and go from the menu. Currently, there is the Swiss cheese and mushroom variation; there has also been a “Western” bacon, cheese and barbeque number. My preference is the latter–but it’s not being offered at the moment. And, by the way, it’s true that they make a big gloppy mess–particularly the mushroom and Swiss.

It is also advertised as “100% Flame-Grilled Aberdeen Beef” – a clever grammatical construction which evades coming down definitively on whether the burger is 100% Aberdeen Angus, 100% beef, or merely 100% “flame grilled”

I’ve had one too and disagree with the above. Yes it has lettuce, tomato and onion (like a whopper), but it doesn’t have pickle or ketchup.

It has a Steakhouse Sauce which is tangy and bbq-like, and the burger tastes different to a Whopper.

I have et one, I agree it does taste much the same as a whopper, the main difference being the meat is a more irregular shape.

Well, not same toppings and sauce. I do not believe Whopper comes along with just onion and BBQ sauce. So if tastes the same it must be for another reason.
I understand you guys have tasted it?

You can occasionally taste the difference in the meat, but they’ve kept the same sauce and toppings, so it’s 95% the same experience as a whopper.

The staff have a special uniform in black which looks a bit like a tuxedo if you’ve never seen one. They are allowed serve other burgers in the same uniform, though.
