Stevie Wonder once said “see you at the Rainbow on Saturday” while performing (IIRC) “Superstition” on TOTP. And David Blunkett condemned a paper put to a Cabinet meeting with the words “This has no vision”. Like any other year there were great singles and really really crap singles playing in the background as you twiddled with your rubic cube. Tom and Greg should be thankful for having not even heard some of the songs on the list. Stevie wonders' "lately" is reminiscent of "gloomy sunday" by Billie Holiday. I'm sure the 1981 suicide rate went up during THAT records tenure in the charts. Ahh! 1981 – I remember it well.
