Olympic Avoidance Blog: Day 12 / 13 / Whatever: To Get To The Other Side

You know what bugs me about the massive proliferation of Olympic sports. its how many of them are just about doing exactly the same thing in a slightly different way. Watching a minute of another Team Great Britain and Northern Ireland gold in canoeing I noticed we were, yet again, back in the piss and algae filled rowing lake. A lake which has been traversed by long distance swimmers, canoeists, sculls, row row row-me-boats. All to get across the same bit of water. Can’t they make up their mind as to the best way to get across it, and just stick to that method. At least there only seems to be one properly sanctioned way of travelling 100m in the Olympics, and that’s by leg.

TIME SPENT WATCHING SOMEONE CROSS THE SAME BIT OF WATER AGAIN: Two Minutes
TOTAL OLYMPIC TIME: 49 Minutes
