May I throw in the despicable habit of Irish Theme Pubs

May I throw in the despicable habit of Irish Theme Pubs (especially O’Neills) having Mna and Fir on their respective lavvies doors. As someone who speaks no Celtic language I made what might be seen to be a logical deduction. The men’s toilet will be in the room whose name is an anagram (and a peasy one at that) of the word Man. Wheras Fir is merely a shortening of the phrase “The fair (fir) sex”. Big error: cue stumbling into a den of harpies and harridens .

Well it isn’t a pub

Well it isn’t a pub but I had a moment of great confusion in Hakkasan (posh restaurant off Tottenham Court Road – great location for a posh restaurant eh?). There were 2 doors, one with M and one with D. M is for Men, obviously, but what’s D for? Dames? Demoiselles? In actual fact it stands for Disabled. There was a third door I hadn’t seen with L on it. Maybe if I go back they will have an R for Retarded……..

Incidentally, the Ladies’ were so dark you could hardly see what you were doing (not that I get off on watching but this was ridiculous, you could barely see the bog roll). The Disabled bogs, on the other hand, were beautifully well lit.

Four GCSEs And A Chip On His Shoulder

Four GCSEs And A Chip On His Shoulder: another weblog by an I Love Music regular, in this case the pipetastic ‘DG’. Caution Vile Blogspot Template Alert but otherwise good stuff. Blogspot seems to have had hiccups lately and so a lot of good websites – Pearls, XRRF, Bleeding Ears to name but three – are lying fallow. But let one weblog fall and two more will spring up to take its place. That said if the sudden outbreak of literalism at empty.org came to an end I’d be happier.
