BOBBY - “Dogeared”

BOBBY - “Dogeared” (MP3)
Too good to be true, really. Somebody comes to Freaky Trigger via doing an AltaVista search on “clever music”. They chat to me via HumanClick. Not so promising since I only like Dumb Music, hur hur. But it turns out they like Dumb Music too! At least I think they do. And this person makes it, as “Dogeared”, a buoyant d’n'b romp supercharged with sampled Abba power, proves. Top track, which you can get by going to his site.

So you see, this is what happens if you talk to me via HumanClick. Except if it’s turned off.

The sound of violence

The sound of violence: also from The Guardian. The problem here is that I don’t buy this idea of violent images ’subverting’ pop, because it assumes that the visuals dominate the music, when I’d say the relationship, especially in films like Mean Streets, is much more equal and amoral: pop is cool. Violence is also cool. Put two cool things together and you get something cooler.
